First-time buyer? Know your programs
- FHSA: save up to $8,000 a year ($40,000 lifetime), tax-deductible going in and tax-free coming out for a first home.
- RRSP Home Buyers' Plan: borrow up to $60,000 per person from your RRSP.
- GST rebate on new homes: up to $50,000 back for eligible first-time buyers of new homes.
- 30-year amortization: available on insured mortgages for first-time buyers and new builds.
- Tax credit: the First-Time Home Buyers' Tax Credit is worth up to $1,500.
